Happy Indigenous People’s Day via @taino_indigenous via @yamayeguani
We the descendants of Jamaica’s first people are dedicated to protecting this island and our ancestral teachings of sustainable practices that have existed prior to colonization.
.
.
Our Ancestral wisdom about our food and medicine had healed our “to be” colonizers, strengthened our African allies and was exchanged and developed with our Maroon relatives.
.
.
Today Jamaica as an independent nation celebrates 58 yrs and we celebrate the work of our National, Community, and Cultural Heroes and Leaders that has instilled in all Jamaicans the spirit of resilience and national pride.
.
.
We charge all Jamaicans to make our ancestors proud, the vision of the many, was always freedom, emancipation and liberty though views may differ.
.
.
Out of many we are one people united as children of this land and tied to her story.
Whether a Yamaye Taino descendant or not, this land has accepted many, may we devote time and resources to a sustainable future for our children.
Yayabo Huma (Great spirit be with you all)
