“On Dec 17th Courtney’s stars of tomorrow and the Concert Chorale will be performing Handel’s Messiah in KINGSTON, JAMAICA. We will be presenting The Messiah, spirituals as well as seasonal songs. This project is a personal one.

Not only because these are some of the most talented musicians I know, but because they will perform in my homeland Jamaica, and for a worthy cause. Part proceeds of this event will go towards establishing a designated Burn unit for victims of fire in #Jamaica.

Reposted from @chswx A cold front will move through overnight, ushering in the first really solid chill of the season for the Lowcountry. Morning lows will bottom out in the mid-50s, while cold advection within a northwesterly breeze will only allow temperatures to rise to the mid-60s in the afternoon despite almost full sunshine. These high temperatures will run some 10-15° below normal for this point in October, matching the very cool high temperatures we experienced during Hurricane Ian at the end of September (minus the hurricane part).

REST OF THE WORK WEEK: You’ll be forgiven if you suddenly have a panic over unfinished Christmas shopping when you step outside on Wednesday: temperatures that day will feel more like mid-December than mid-October despite unfettered sunshine. Thursday will feel similar, especially in the morning, though we’ll run only ten degrees below normal in the afternoon as opposed to 15° below normal the day before. Lows in the 40s persist into Friday, but highs should once again reach 70° in the afternoon with just a couple clouds at times as the airmass begins to modify a bit heading into the weekend. #chswx #scwx #charleston #charlestonsc

– Jamaica’s powerlifting team, the Jamaica Spartans, were strong enough to lift gold medals in record-breaking style, on their international debut, at the NAPF Regional Championships in Panama City, Panama.

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, has said Jamaica is extremely proud of the powerlifting team, the Spartans, for a record-breaking performance on their first outing on the international scene.

Minister Grange’s congratulation of the Spartans follows the team’s participation in the North American Powerlifting Federation’s (NAPF) Regional Championships in Panama.
“Commendations also to the National Powerlifting Association of Jamaica which has guided the Spartans to be among the sports men and women providing us with gifts of superb performances for Jamaica 60. Earning gold and breaking records in the process on debut will be long remembered,” the Sport Minister concluded.

The Jamaica Spartans won their first-ever medal at the NAPF when Scott Jennings, got gold as well as set a deadlift championships record of 312.5kg (688.94lb) in the 83kg weight class.

Additionally, Jennings also had the top squat of the competitors, weighing 247.5kg (545.64lbs), but his only successful bench press attempt was 172.5kg (380.30lb).
Jennings ended the competition with an impressive total of 732.5kg (1,614.88lb), which also now a competition record.
